Friends and family test

The NHS Friends and Family Test asks patients: "Overall, how was your experience of our service?"

Every patient visiting our hospital wards, emergency departments, maternity services, outpatients and day case departments is able to give feedback on the quality of the care they have received. The feedback also provides us with a better understanding of the needs of our patients and visitors and enables us to continually improve the care we give.

How does it work?

Within 48 hours of being discharged you will be asked to answer the following question:

"Overall, how was your experience of our service?"

Patients will also have the opportunity to explain why they have given their answer. Patients are asked to answer the question before going home, or are invited to do so by returning the postcard.

If you have not completed a survey for your recent visit, you can complete the NHS Friends and Family Test online here

We also have the survey available in different formats such as Large Print and Easy Read, and also a simplified version of the survey.

For a Braille copy, please contact the Patient Experience Team on 0118 322 8082.

The survey is also available in Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Nepali and Urdu.
