Cardiac Care Unit
The Cardiac Care Unit specialises in the care of patients with acute cardiac conditions, such as: acute myocardial infarcation, acute coronary syndrome, arhythmias and people requiring pacemakers.
The Unit provides access to 24-hour emergency admissions and procedures, as well as weekday investigations and tests. As the Unit is a high care environment there is a higher ratio of nurses to patients than a general ward.
The Unit consists of three six-bedded bays. As patients admitted are often critically unwell we cannot guarantee patients will be cared for in a single-sex bay. Most patients will be on monitoring equipment above their beds - if this sounds it does not always mean there is a problem.
