
Changes to patient and visitors parking from 2 June
28 May 2025
New arrangements for patients and visitors using the Royal Berkshire Hospital car park come into effect on 2 June 2025.
Now drivers have the option of an ‘up to two hours’ parking rate which it’s hoped will accommodate the bulk of appointments at the hospital. At the moment there is no 2 hour charge so people parking for 2 hours have to pay the same as those paying for 3 hours which is currently £6. The new pricing structure means they will be charged £4.50 for 2 hours.
The revised parking prices are in line with inflation and revenue raised is spent on maintaining and monitoring the hospital car parks keeping them safe and structurally sound for people to use.
As part of its sustainability work, the Trust is keen to encourage people, where possible, to consider alternative forms of transport when travelling to the hospital. There are park and ride services – route 300 - at Mereoak and Thames Valley Park which are open to patients and visitors.
The park and ride runs alongside regular Reading Bus services to the hospital:
