Rapid Assessment Clinic for Older People
The Rapid Assessment Clinic for Older People (RACOP) offers multi-disciplinary specialist assessment to older people who need to be seen within 24-48 hours (or up to 7 days) in order to prevent hospital admission.
Patients can be referred by GPs and their Primary Care colleagues, the Ambulance Service and the Emergency Department team.
We support those who:
- Need medical and/or multidisciplinary (physiotherapy, occupational therapy) assessment and/or treatment.
- Have rapid onset of urinary incontinence and/or confusion.
- Require other specialist assessment.
The clinic is based within the Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit, situated opposite the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) on Level 1, Centre Block, Royal Berkshire Hospital
