Chesterman Unit

The Chesterman unit is the admission suite for elective (planned) surgical patients for Abdominal, Orthopaedic and General Surgery.

Accommodation is mixed in the general reception area, with separate male and female facilities for consultations and changing.

We understand that patients coming in for surgery are often nervous and prefer to have someone wait with them. Space in the unit is limited, so we ask that only one person accompanies each patient, and that they are considerate of other patients waiting for surgery. The unit is not suitable for babies or children.

As our patients are nil by mouth when they come to us, eating and drinking by friends or relatives is discouraged.
