Supporting staff through Operation Cavell

At the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, we are committed to ensuring our staff feel safe, supported and protected at work. We work closely with Thames Valley Police to support colleagues who experience violence, aggression, harassment or abuse while carrying out their duties.

Any member of staff who is the victim of a crime at work will be supported to report the incident to the police. Where appropriate, Thames Valley Police will investigate offences and pursue criminal action against offenders.

We recognise that violence and abuse can have a significant impact on our staff's wellbeing, confidence and ability to do their job. Op Cavell helps ensure staff receive the support they need throughout the reporting and investigation process.

Zero tolerance of abuse

Our staff come to work to provide safe, compassionate care for patients and their families. We have a zero-tolerance approach to abusive, threatening or violent behaviour towards our staff, volunteers and contractors.

Anyone who behaves in an abusive, threatening or violent manner may be asked to leave Trust premises, have restrictions placed on their access to services, and could face investigation and prosecution by the police.

We ask all patients, visitors and members of the public to treat our staff with respect and kindness so they can continue providing the best possible care for everyone.
