Occupational Health

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, Occupational Health ask that individuals do not bring additional people with them to the occupational health appointments as space is limited to no more than three people in our reception. This is to ensure we are compliant with social distancing requirements in view of COVID-19.

The Occupational Health department aims to achieve the following:

  • Promote and maintain the physical, mental and social wellbeing of staff
  • Promote an advisory service which is independent, confidential and ethical
  • Promote and encourage adherence to health and safety legislation

We provide a range of services for Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust employees, including:

  • Fitness for work advice, including advice on rehavilitation, redeployment, ill-health retirement.
  • Immunisation programmes and blood screening
  • Co-ordination and delivery of the staff seasonal influenza campaign.
  • Management of inoculation injuries
  • Health surveillance e.g. skin surveillance, respiratory surveillance etc.
  • Health and wellbeing events and training
  • Risk assessments including work station & workplace and night worker.

The team consists of a consultant in occupation health, a team of occupational health specialist nurses and administrative staff.

Where to find us and opening times

The Occupational Health department is based at 21 Craven Road (The red brick house opposite the maternity block)

It is open from 8:00 am to 16:30 pm, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.

Blood screen and immunisation clinic - by appointment only

The department runs regular 'Blood screen and immunisation clinic's for existing and prospective staff which take place on the following days and times:

  • Tuesdays  - 08:15 am - 12:00 pm
  • Thursday  - 13:00 pm - 16:00 pm
  • Friday       - 09:00 am - 12:00 pm

 These clinics are by booked appointment only with appointments available every 15 minutes. Call the department on 0118 322 7634 to book.

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust staff concerned about their health at work can self-refer to Occupational Health by contacting the department directly and making an appointment
