Relocation package

The Trust offers two levels of relocation support; 'lite' relocation support for clinical staff in bands 5-7 and full relocation support for staff in bands 8a and above and senior medical staff.

The Trust offers 'lite' relocation support to clinical staff in bands 5-7 who move into the area to take up a post in the Trust. Reimbursement of up to a maximum of £2,000 of actual costs incurred related to the relocation against receipts submitted.

Reimbursement of up to a maximum of £8,000 in total of actual costs incurred related to the relocation against receipts submitted ans subject to the expenses categories.

If, in exceptional circumstances, more than £8,000 is agreed, any payments in excess of £8,000 are taxable at source.

Staff relocating from overseas are able to claim for one standard class flight to the UK which will be paid by the Trust either directly or via our partner agencies. Travel arrangements must be agreed with the Trust prior to booking.

Staff in this category may also be eligible for 'lite' or full relocation support in addition. Where full relocation support is provided the cost of the flight will be deducted from the £8,000 limit.

Subject to leaving within the first year you would be required to pay back 100% of the relocation package and if you have left within two years you will need to pay back 50% of the relocation package.

As a Trust we help you settle into the country by helping you set up bank accounts, shopping whilst in isolation and also adding value by loaning i-pads to you whilst in isolation so that you can complete your e-Learning.

We also have dedicated resource by offering pastoral care to those that are new to the country.

Upon commencement of your employment; until you have successfully passed your OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) and registered with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) you will be employed at the Trust as a band 3 senior healthcare assistant on an annual salary of £21,142.

The Trust is committed to supporting overseas nurses and is pleased to offer the following package: 

  • Economy flight at the start of employment (costs to be approved by the Trust).
  • Airport transfer
  • Temporary accommodation costs capped at a maximum of £1,000. This will cover approximately six weeks. This will be coordinated and approved by the resourcing team and paid upfront by the Trust. Should you choose to source your own accommodation, this will need to be paid for by yourself and claimed back as per the relocation policy. The maximum amount of £1000 applies.
  • OSCE preparation and exam fees (two assessments)
  • Travel to the OSCE exam.

The Trust is also required to pay:

  • Certificate of sponsorship for three years.
  • Immigration skills charge for three years.

This conditional offer of employment in the UK with the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is subject to satisfactory completion and receipt of the following pre-employment checks:

The following checks must be completed before a date of commencement can be confirmed failure to comply with this may put your offer of employment at risk:

  • Employment references covering a minimum of three years, to the satisfaction of the Trust.
  • Occupational health (OH) clearance from our internal OH department
  • Tuberculosis check in your home country
  • Overseas Police Check/DBS*
  • Identity verification
  • Valid passport
  • Having the right to live and work in the UK and completing the necessary visa process
  • Please be advised that under the terms of your contract, all new starters are on a probationary period for the first six months of employment.
  • The following conditions must be completed once you have commenced at the Trust and within eight months of employment:
    • Passing an OSCE
    • Obtaining full registration as a nurse with the NMC and valid NMC pin within eight months of arrival as per the visa regulations

  • If you are a GMC registered doctor, or have GMC registration pending, and have good English language skills we want to hear from you.
  • A generous relocation package, including visa and travel costs
  • A dedicated adviser for your travel, relocation and accommodation.
