Rapid Assessment Clinic for Older People

The Rapid Assessment Clinic for Older People (RACOP) is based in the Inpatient Therapies Department in Battle Block. The remit of this service is to offer multi-disciplinary specialist assessment to older people.

The service treats older people who need to be seen within 24-48 hours in order to prevent hospital admission

  • Need medical and/or multidisciplinary (physiotherapy, occupational therapy) assessment and/or treatment
  • Have rapid onset of urinary incontinence and/or confusion
  • Require other specialist assessment
  • Require blood transfusion or management of acute hyper-calcaemia

  • The Movement Disorders Clinic takes place on a Monday, and is led by Dr Apu Chatterjee, consultant in Elderly Care
  • The Stroke Clinic takes place on Tuesdays, and is led by Dr Andre Van-Wyk, consultant in Elderly Care
  • The Falls Assessment Clinic takes place on Thursdays, and is led by Dr Michael Pearson, consultant in Elderly Care

How to find us 

Exit the multi-storey car park on level 2. Follow the signs for all wards and departments, and take a right at the Welcome Desk. Continue through to Battle Block and take the stairs or lift to level 1.
