Observation Ward

AE with ambulance

The Observation Ward is an emergency ward with two four-bedded bays with toilet and shower facilities, an area for ambulatory chairs and an interview room suitable for patients with mental health needs.

The ward looks after patients that need more than four hours care, but who may not need admitting to hospital.

How to get here

Access to the Observation Ward is via the Accident and Emergency department. The Emergency department is in its own building, set back between the Main Entrance and Maternity Block on Craven Road. Note that the roadway between these two buildings is for ambulances only. 

Pedestrian access is via the roadway behind the car park - follow the signs. There is no access to A&E from the main entrance block.
