SSE Energy Group paid the Royal Berkshire Hospital a visit last Thursday to hand out sweet treats to staff as a ‘thank-you’ for all their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
Dressed in festive hats and jumpers, SSE staff visited 45 wards and departments over the morning spreading Christmas cheer. The delivery of sweets and cakes came as a welcome surprise and helped brighten the day of many staff.
Later in the day, SSE lent a hand wrapping over 300 presents, which had been donated to the gift tree by visitors to ensure that every patient has a gift to open on Christmas day.
Kirsten Rogers, voluntary services manager, said: “It’s amazing to have staff from the human resources team at SSE come in today to support us at Christmas time.
“This is an incredible help in the busy run up to Christmas and patients will really appreciate the beautifully wrapped gifts, kindly donated by members of the public.
“The community really comes together at this time of year. The day was great fun, it brought a lot of joy to many people across the hospital, and I just want to give a huge thank you to all of our volunteers especially over the festive period.”
