Staff in the paediatric ultrasound unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital welcomed students from St Joseph’s College today, and thanked them for the incredible artwork they had presented to liven up the paediatric ultrasound room.
The room has been decorated with different artwork to help children of all ages relax and feel more comfortable while they are having treatment.
Gill Baily, Head of art at St Joseph’s College explained how the students had designed the piece, called Submerged, which was inspired by the work of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, and then created sections on mounted board that individuals worked on. These sections were then combined digitally, to make the whole piece come together.
The College took the opportunity during the visit to discuss other art projects they can take on to help make other areas of the ultrasound department even more welcoming.
