Families who have experienced losing their babies either before or shortly after birth are being invited to a special remembrance service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH).
The Baby Remembrance Service will take place at 2pm on Sunday 3 December in the hospital chapel located in North Block, accessed via the London Road entrance.
The short inter-denominational service will provide an opportunity to remember all babies that have passed away in any circumstances. It will include prayers, poems, and the lighting of candles.
The service has been organised by hospital chaplains, alongside bereavement midwives and ward staff from maternity service, in partnership with the Willows group.
Chaplain Lorraine Colam said: “The remembrance service will offer families a chance to come together and remember their babies in a sympathetic and understanding environment. Some families will come to remember a recent loss. Others will come to remember a baby who was lost many years ago. Everyone is welcome to attend.”
Refreshments will be served after the service and members of Willows, SANDS, the chaplaincy and the bereavement midwives will be available to talk to.
The Willows group offer support for those who have lost a baby at the RBH and can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
