The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is just one of five Trusts to be shortlisted for a national award.
The CHKS Top Hospitals programme national patient experience award celebrates excellence throughout the UK and is given to acute sector organisations for their achievements in healthcare quality and improvement. The Trust was a winner in the CHKS Top Hospitals awards last year.
The patient experience award is a national award allocated on the basis of what patients think of their experience when they visit a hospital. It is based on a range of patient experience indicators including: inpatient surveys, the most recent surveys from A&E, outpatient or maternity, PROMs, Friends and Family tests and PLACE scores.
CHKS, part of Capita Healthcare Decisions, has used over 27 years of experience in the analysis of hospital data to decide the indicators on which each of the Top Hospitals programme awards are judged. Awards are made on the basis of an analysis of publicly available datasets and every NHS acute trust in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is included.
Andy Lockwood, managing director, Capita Healthcare Decisions, said: “The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust should take pride in having been shortlisted on the basis of our analysis of patient experience indicators and we look forward to the next stage in the process which will see us announcing a winner at our awards ceremony.”
Trust Chief Executive, Steve McManus, said: “The Trust is very proud to have been shortlisted. The experience our patients receive from staff at the Royal Berkshire Hospitals goes to the heart of our values and what we are here for. This nomination recognises that, against national measures, our patients rate highly the quality of service they receive from the Trust. This feedback is very important to us.
“Our staff aspire to provide an excellent, high quality service to all our patients, their families, carers, or indeed to any visitor to our facilities. I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff at the Royal Berkshire Hospitals for all their hard work that has led to this nominatoion. ”
The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards will be held in London on 10 May 2017, hosted by health policy analyst Roy Lilley. Guest speaker will be Sir Ranulph Fiennes Bt OBE. Over 200 guests will be in attendance including leaders from across the healthcare sector including: BMA, NHS Digital, Royal College of Emergency Medicine, NHS Improvement and acute trusts.
