Nurses at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust joined colleagues across the globe on Saturday, 12 May 2018 for International Nurses Day - Florence Nightingale’s birthday, to recognise and celebrate their achievements.
There was a huge amount of excitement generated as members of the senior nursing team joined the many staff on-duty over the weekend to celebrate the day, handing out re-usable drinking bottles generously sponsored by the Royal Berks Charity and goodie bags kindly donated by John Lewis and L'OCCITANE in Reading and the voluntary services team at RBH.
One nurse in ED said “This is fantastic, it’s made my day”.
Along with the goodie bags and drinking bottles, a celebratory birthday cake was won by staff on Adelaide ward, and Woodley ward won the birthday cupcakes. Throughout the day staff had their photos taken with maps showing flags of the world, proudly pointing to their home countries.
Caroline Ainslie, Director of Nursing, said: “I am immensely proud of all the nursing staff here at the Trust. They all work incredibly hard every day to deliver outstanding care to all our patients, their carers and families, and our wider community. It was great fun to join and celebrate this special day, but most importantly thank them personally”.
