The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust will be throwing open its doors once again for its annual Members’ Open Day on Saturday 23 September, 9am – 2pm at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Trust Education Centre.
The popular event will include a variety of activities including departmental tours, where guests will get a behind the scenes look at our well renowned cardiology service, our new robot used to perform operations, our robotic pharmacy service, and our interactive simulation centre, which will be demonstrating one of the Trust’s clinical training sessions on ‘Recognising a deteriorating patient and resuscitation’. Visitors will also be able to take a look at how the catering team prepare over 700 meals serve every day and sample some of the dishes on the menu.
Tours of the Medical Museum will also be available, giving people the opportunity to step back in time and learn more about the provision of medicine in days gone by and see how it has developed over the years.
Staff and volunteers from departments and services across the Trust will be hosting a wide variety of interactive stands, such as Therapies, Audiology, Maternity, the Royal Berks Charity, Housekeeping, Dermatology, Palliative Care, Learning and Development, the Pain Management Unit, Research and Development, Patient and Public Involvement, Hospital Radio Reading and the Council of Governors.
They will be delighted to talk about the services they offer, the care they provide and how they ensure a first class experience for patients.
Representatives from a number of our partner healthcare organisations will also be part of the day’s events, giving guests the chance to chat to members of South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS), Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Reading Healthwatch and the Thames Valley Clinical Trials Unit.
Additionally, during the day, two informative and engaging key note presentations will be given by the Research and Development team and staff from the Cardiology Unit.

Please note that tour places are limited so are restricted to two tours per person. Please list your order of preference and we will do our best to accommodate your first two choices. Arrangements will be confirmed closer to the date.
Free parking is available for members in both the North Block entrance car park and the Craven Road multi-storey car park. Further details will be issued to members who confirm their attendance in advance of the event.
