Juliette Ward, Rainbow Midwife Specialist at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust has won a prestigious national midwifery award for going above and beyond in the care and support she provides for families who experience pregnancy loss.
The Mariposa Trust, the national charity that provides services and support for people who have lost children at any stage of pregnancy, at birth, or in infancy, presented Juliette with the coveted Archie Award at a special ceremony in London on Saturday 6th April 2019.
In partnership with actress Kym Marsh, one of the charity's Ambassadors, the Archie Award is in memory of her son who sadly passed away during pregnancy. The award is for a midwife who has gone above and beyond in the level of care they have provided.
On receiving the award Juliette said: “It is a huge honour to receive the Archie Award - especially this year which marks Archie's 10th birthday. When parents suffer the tragedy and heartbreak of baby loss it is important that they receive the best possible care and support not only during this very difficult time but also throughout any future pregnancies.”
The Rainbow service at the Trust was launched in October 2018 after members of the maternity team worked alongside parents to understand the unique challenges bereaved parents experience in a new pregnancy. The Rainbow Clinic Team offers tailored specialist antenatal support in pregnancies after loss and has been developed with parents at the heart of the service. I am proud to work as part of a team that is not only committed to offering the very latest medical expertise and knowledge but also kind, compassionate, family-centred care.
