With high levels of Covid-19 circulating in the community, it remains crucially important that staff continue to self-test using Lateral Flow Tests (or PCR if you are one of the departments using that method). LFTs continue to detect on average 10-12 asymptomatic staff per month across the Trust. This means that these staff have disrupted and broken the Covid-19 ‘chain of transmission’ – protecting our patients, colleagues and vulnerable family members. Latest evidence suggests that LFTs remain highly sensitive in detecting the new ‘Omicron’ variant - so they remain a vitally important tool keeping us all safe.
To date at RBFT, staff lateral flow testing has detected nearly 200 asymptomatic staff who were positive for Covid-19. If you have a positive LFT test you must not attend work, you should isolate, inform your line manager and organise a confirmatory PCR test – please see the intranet for further guidance.
The way that you order your free lateral flow tests has changed. Instead of collecting your kits from Occupational Health, please order them online, direct from Gov.UK
Demand is high for the seven test kits, so remember to order early in the morning (0700 onwards), or you can download a barcode to collect a box from your nearest pharmacy.
Reporting your results
It’s very important to continue reporting your results via DrDoctor. The instructions with the new packs of lateral flow tests will ask you to report via Gov.UK. Please ignore this and continue to use the DrDoctor site.
If you’re reporting via your mobile, look out for our new posters containing the DrDoctor QR code. When you scan this with your mobile phone, it’ll take you straight to our DrDoctor reporting site.
