Lynn Bayliss, Voluntary Services Manager with W O Mark Cunningham
Mark Cunningham was delighted when he was promoted earlier this year to 18 (B) Squadron Warrant Officer Engineering, UK Chinock Force, RAF Odiham.
What he didn’t realise when he accepted the promotion was that along with the new role he was soon to become a collector of ‘My Little Pony’ memorabilia.
Mark said: “Friends and family saw the squadron’s motif as a Pegasus and referred to it as the ‘My Little Pony’ squadron, and it wasn’t long before they started sending me presents of the popular toy! Before I knew it I had a stable full of them on top of my locker.
“As much as I admire my collection I thought it was time to let it go to a better home and The Royal Berkshire Hospital was top of my list, the Giftree appeal is such a worthy cause”.
Lynn Bayliss, the Trust's Voluntary Services Manager and organiser of the Giftree appeal, welcomed Mark to the hospital and said: “Mark’s ‘My Little Pony’ collection is very impressive and I know his donation is going to really brighten Christmas Day for some of our younger patients, who will enjoy playing with them. I can’t thank him enough for thinking of us”.
If you would like to donate a gift to the appeal all you need to do is to bring an unwrapped present to the Giftree in main reception at The Royal Berkshire Hospital, pick a label from the tree and place it on the present. You can even add a message saying who you are, and then just leave the labelled gift under the tree.
Please remember not to wrap your present or we won’t know who we can give it to!
If you would like to contribute but need guidance on what to give, you can look on the Trust's website http://www.royalberkshire.nhs.uk/Donate-a-Christmas-gift-and-brighten-someones-day.htm or give the Voluntary Services Manager- Lynn Bayliss a call on 0118 322 8396.
