Your baby's movements

Importance of fetal (baby) movements in pregnancy

Being aware of your baby's movements is vital for your baby's wellbeing.  Between 16 to 24 weeks is when you can expect to start feeling your baby move, which can often increase from 24 weeks onwards.  Each baby will have their own pattern and frequency of movement but there is no set number of movements you should expect.  It is more important to be aware of what is normal for your baby.

If your baby's movement pattern changes, contact your maternity unit immediately. Do not put off calling to the next day!
