Dr Carl Waldmann, Intensive Care Consultant at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust has been appointed the new Dean of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) in London.
The FICM is the professional body responsible for the training, assessment, practice and continuing professional development of Intensive Care Medicine doctors and practitioners in the UK.
Dr Waldmann has worked at the RBFT for 30 years and is well known and respected by colleagues. He led the establishment of the Rehabilitation after Critical Illness service; an outpatient clinic which supports patients after their stay in intensive care.
On receiving his new appointment Dr Waldmann said: “It’s a great honour but comes at a very challenging time. I hope I can do justice to the job.”
Chief Executive Jean O’Callaghan acknowledged Dr Waldmann’s success in her weekly blog to staff commenting: “This is a fantastic accolade and we join the staff in the ICU team in sending Carl many congratulations.”
