For industry

Quality management
We have an experienced and dedicated Research and Development (R&D) team to help support and advise industry personnel in meeting the requirements of local and UK wide regulatory frameworks. We also perform in-house costing and contract negotiation, with experienced research teams who have proven track-records to deliver on study targets and timelines with excellence and professionalism.

Our Trust consultants are engaged in a wide variety of research activities, which mirror the clinical services offered by the Trust. Our research leads are recognised for their extensive contribution in establishing a patient focused quality research portfolio.

In addition, our healthcare professionals have experience in delivering both industry and investigator-led research protocols.

To assist industry partners in identifying investigators at the Trust, we have dedicated consultants who initiate, support and drive research in various departments. All our researchers at the Trust work alongside an experienced clinical research team, underpinned by a range of courses available to support their professional development.

These courses include National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Consent training, and Principal Investigator training workshop training.

We are one of the largest district general hospitals (DGH) in England and our local community which has one of the most diverse and multicultural populations in the UK.

The Trust actively promotes its research activities to support patients and the public, and their doctors who are considering involvement in a relevant research study.

With over 20 years of conducting pioneering research at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, the Trust is committed to the consistent achievement of rapid study set-up timeframes and for supporting the use of nationally approved standard agreements to accelerate the process for contracting industry-led studies.

Where there is no nationally approved standard agreement available, the team can provide an appropriate template agreement for review.

The R&D Governance team is experienced in providing a wide range of support to deliver high quality commercial research. Your assigned R&D contact is also responsible for collating and negotiating contracts, study costs and will liaise with all service departments on the behalf of our industry partners, providing central management of the authorisation process.

All industry sponsored research studies are subject to regular performance reviews to monitor recruitment time to target timelines and implement contingency plans, as required.

We always welcome discussions for potential studies opening at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. Please get in touch
