Research and development

Here at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, we are continually striving to improve the health and wellbeing of our local community through national and international research.

Research helps save lives. Evidence has shown that comparatively, organisations who are research active have better patient outcomes, than organisations who are not involved in research.

“Organisations in which the research function is fully integrated into the organisational structure can out-perform other organisations that pay less heed to research and its outputs” (Boaz et al, 2015).

Our mission is to work in partnership to develop a sound Research and Development (R&D) culture, where researchers feel supported within our organisation. The department has strong links across all the Trust departments as well as with Ethics Committees, local and regional Universities and Industry.

We are recognised for quality research which contributes to excellent patient care and improving professional development. In addition to attracting some of the best clinicians and researchers, the department has and continues to successfully attract funding of the highest level.

To consistently deliver quality research care, maintain our position as one of the top five highest recruiting DGH (district general hospitals) in England and to build a sound reputation amongst internal and external stakeholders for accessibility and quality of service for conducting research.
