GI physiologists specialise in the study of gastrointestinal function and conditions, which includes any part of the digestive tract from the oesophagus to the anus and also of the liver, biliary tract and the pancreas.
The tests they carry out involve a series of pictures being taken of the oesophagus, stomach and small intestine. Usually the tests are used to diagnose problems like ulcers, acid reflux, serious vomiting or bloody stools.
