Breast Surgery

The Breast Surgical Department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital has three consultants who provide a comprehensive service for both benign and malignant conditions, as well as family history screening and a screening service for other patients at high risk of developing breast cancer.

The Surgical Breast Unit is completely integrated with the symptomatic Breast Radiology Service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and with the Breast Screening Service based in Craven Road.

In addition, joint clinics are held with the breast clinical oncologists on a weekly basis.

The Breast Reconstructive Service is led by Mr Brendan Smith. A full range of reconstructive and corrective procedures is available. Mr Smith works closely with the plastic surgeons in Oxford for microvascular free flap surgery.
