Children's Ear, Nose and Throat

Welcome to the Children's ear, nose and throat department (ENT). The clinic sees children and young people from birth to 16 years and is situated in the West Drive buildings at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

.

How to find us

The best place to park is in the multi-storey car park. From the Main Entrance at level 2, turn right past reception, signed 'All Wards and Departments'. At the welcomer's desk turn left into the main corridor and immediately right, taking stairs or lift to Level 1. Turn left in the corridor and left again, walking to an exit door marked 'West Drive buildings'. When outside cross the zebra crossing and you will find us in the same building as Children's Audiology.

Appointments

Only one or two adult carers per patient, please arrange childcare for young siblings or other children.

What do I need to bring?

  • If your child is under five years old, bring their red book with you
  • Baby feeds, nappies and other essentials
  • Snacks or drinks, especially if your child has a special diet
  • Any medication your child is taking
  • Your child's favourite toy, book or comforter. There are a small amount of toys in the waiting area.

Consultants

  • Mr Flannery

  • Mr Herdman

  • Mr Mansell

Any other information

The ENT team works in close conjunction with Audiology and Speech and Language therapists. Your child might need assessment by all the different specialities during the same visit. If so, appointments can last as long as two hours.

Delays

The department can be very busy, and if this is the case, appointment times may run late. Please speak to a member of staff who will be able to keep you up to date with any delays.

Sometimes it may seem as though others are being called in before you, but this is likely due to there being multiple clinics running, or due to the nature of other visits.

Other locations

Children's ENT clinics are also held the first Thursday of every month at Townlands Hospital in Henley and three Tuesdays a month at West Berkshire Community Hospital.
