Kit for the Clinic campaign
The Kit for the Clinic campaign is about
enhancing a patient's stay at the new clinic. It's been launched by
the Royal Berks Charity and the Bracknell News. The campaign hopes
to raise in excess of £30,000.
Ian Thomson, Business Development Manager
for the Royal Berks Charity is very excited about being involved in
a local community campaign.
He said: "I am delighted to be working with the people of
Bracknell, helping to raise funds for this very worthwhile cause.
Many patients who will visit the clinic will spend a considerable
amount of time receiving treatment. If we can help by making that
visit a bit more special and help enhance a patient's
experience, then we will have succeeded in achieving our goal."
The Royal Berks Charity needs to raise at
least £30,000 through public donations which will help buy:
- 10 computer Laptops at a cost of £550 each. Providing laptops
will enable patients to keep in touch with their work place and
family. For the business person this will allow them to keep in
contact with their external and internal customers.
- 30 TV/DVD players with Freeview at a cost of £500 each
including installation costs. These units will help patients
through the long dialysis sessions of four to five hours
and have proved to be a resounding success and endorsed by patients
in the renal units at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
Mr. C said: “I’d be lost without the TV. It’s three
days a week of your life in hospital, that’s why it’s good to have
television. It passes the time
away”.
- patient access Wi-Fi system. This will allow patients to access
the Internet for business and social use.
- visual image wall mounted light box for use in the LinAc bunker
at a cost of £4,000. Nature imagery, when incorporated into
treatment environments, can reduce patient stress and anxiety.
