Rights and Responsibilities

What you can expect and what you must do:

The Trust recognises that you have rights. The Trust recognises that you have responsibilities to:

  • listen carefully to advice on your treatment and medication
  • tell the doctor about any treatments you are already taking
  • ask a member of staff caring for you to explain further if there is any part of your condition or care that you do not understand or are worried about
  • treat our staff, fellow patients and visitors politely, and with respect. We will not accept violence, racial, sexual or verbal harassment
  • tell us of any changes to your personal circumstances such as a change of address or your doctor
  • not smoke in the buildings or in the grounds of the hospital
  • ask a member of staff before using a mobile phone.

If in doubt about your rights and responsibilities, please contact Patient Advice and Liason Service (PALS) on 0118 322 8338.
