The Royal Berkshire Hospital
Surviving Sepsis Campaign (RBHSSC)

Sepsis is a complex syndrome and can be difficult to define, diagnose and treat. It is a major cause of death, killing approximately 1,400 people worldwide per day.

The RBHSSC is based on the international Surviving Sepsis Campaign and forms part of the Trust’s Patient Safety initiative. Our aim is to:

  • raise awareness, understanding and improve knowledge of all healthcare professionals, patients, relatives and carers
  • develop tools for early identification and appropriate management of patients with sepsis / severe sepsis across the Trust.
