New Heart Failure Day Unit on Whitley Ward opening on July 8th

Our ambulatory day unit on Whitley Ward for patients needing high dose IV diuretics is opening on July 8th and will have the following admission criteria:

  • Robust diagnosis of heart failure now or previously             
  • Heart failure primary and most likely cause for clinical presentation
  • Confirmed cardiac dysfunction sufficient to lead to the heart failure syndrome
  • Chest x ray demonstrating no other acute untreated cause for breathlessness within 7 days of symptom onset if first presentation                                          
  • Patient has agreed  to treatment                                                        
  • Patient / carer able to access and understand info leaflet and self-management guides              
  • Clinically stable to receive care on an out-patient basis                  
  • Home set-up that enables management of day-to-day living on an out-patient basis
