The Prince Charles Eye Unit treats

ophthalmology patients for both
inpatient and day case surgery.
Although part of the Trust, the Prince
Charles Eye Unit is situated in Windsor, within the King Edward VII
Hospital.
Note: The King Edward VII hospital is not
itself part of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The Eye Unit is on the ground floor, clearly
signposted from main reception. Volunteer hosts/hostesses are
available to help you at the King Edward VII Hospital's main
reception desk. Wheelchairs are also available from the main
reception.
Trolley service: WRVS trolley
service with snacks. Patients for day case surgery have the
catering service based on the ward.
Nearest Refreshment: The
hospital's cafeteria on ground floor of King Edward VII Hospital
serves hot meals, snacks, newspapers and magazines. It is open from
8am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and from 8am to 3pm Friday.
There are also vending machines for cold
drinks, crisps, chocolate etc. for out of hours. The nearest shops
are on St Leonard's Road about 5 minutes walk away and Windsor town
centre is about 15 minutes walk away.
Visitors: Visitors are
welcome on the ward at any time within reason. Children are allowed
to visit at the ward sister's discretion. We try to encourage a
maximum of 2 visitors per patient.
Visiting times:
There are no set visiting times, although the latest visiting time
is 8pm.
Gifts for patients: Gifts for
patients, including flowers, are welcomed, although we would ask
patients to be aware of the limited fridge space in the ward for
consumable items.
