SAS doctors are experienced career
grade doctors (specialty doctors/staff grade doctors, associate
specialists, clinical assistants and hospital
practitioners) from all specialties, and form a significant
workforce in the NHS.
There are 112 SAS doctors at the Royal
Berkshire Hospital. Continued Medical Education & Professional
Development of the SAS doctors will be a good investment to improve
the quality of care to the patients and to ensure the maintenance
of Good Clinical Practice recommended by the GMC.
The Government has provided 12 million pounds of SAS development
funds last year. Royal Berkshire Hospital is one of the seven
NHS Health care trusts in the Oxford Deanery.
The Associate Post Graduate Dean from Oxford is Mr John Lourie
and seven SAS Tutors have been appointed up to date.
