Governor for Southern Oxfordshire
Caroline Bowder
"I have lived in Henley for the last ten
years and I am a writer.
I am half Irish and studied in London
and Dublin gaining degrees in French and English.
I have taught degree level down to primary in Nigeria, Coventry,
Liverpool and Ireland. This included an undergraduate diploma in
creative writing for the Department for Continuing Education at
Oxford University. I have also taught English as a foreign language
to adults.
I have had two novels published as well as several radio and
stage plays performed and a bit of poetry. I occasionally write
theatre and book reviews for the Church Times.
Having experienced bowel cancer myself I am currently trying to
get my full length play about the body and cancer produced. I am
thankful to the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust for their
excellent cancer care and treatment I received.
I have three grown sons; all of whom are different and smashing.
My husband is a journalist. I enjoy singing with the Henley
Choral Society and playing the piano."
