Governors for East Berkshire & Borders
Ross Carroll
“I wanted to become a governor as my wife
recently visited the Royal Berkshire Hospital following a
distressing miscarriage. I was grateful for the care provided to
her, but subsequently wished to become further involved in the
Trust to try and ensure that high quality care is provided to
all patients served by the Trust.
I believe I possess wide-ranging experience
gained from public, private and charitable. I am a qualified
pharmacist, and having trained in three NHS hospitals and worked in
community pharmacy I understand the importance of truly patient
focussed healthcare. I have also worked for a palliative care
charity as policy development officer and currently work as a
Public Policy and Government Affairs Manager in the pharmaceutical
industry. In this role I am required to analyse the impact of
government policy – especially health policy - and meet with senior
politicians to discuss such issues.
In addition, I am an active member of a
leading independent think tank and have published policy papers on
topics including military healthcare, pharmacy services, “postcode
lottery” of health services and the Northern Irish economy.
I believe my background as a healthcare
professional enables me to understand what patient’s value whilst
my expertise in Government policy will provide value to the Trust
in delivering NHS objectives at a local level.”

To be updated a governor is working with people of like minds as
we have the best interests of the hospital at heart."
