Lindsey Barker has worked at the
Royal 
Berkshire Hospital since 1990. She is a Consultant Nephrologist and
Physician and latterly Divisional Director of Medicine.
She trained in Bristol and Oxford, and
has been instrumental in the growth of the Reading Renal Unit from
a handful of patients to one of the largest DGH renal units in the
country, serving the whole of Berkshire.
Nationally, she has served the Royal College of Physicians in
renal working parties and reports. She was Chair of the Department
of Health Commissioning work for Peritoneal Dialysis and on the
NICE guidance group. She is active with the SHA in shaping renal
services.
She has been involved in hospital management for last four
years, bringing in Hospital at Night, the trust
designation as a heart attack centre, hyperacute stroke service and
starting to move clinical services out closer to patients’
homes.
She is married with three children. Her interests include
sailing, walking, anything outside.
