About the Trust

"Our vision is to deliver the best image of hospital
healthcare in the UK for our
patients in our community."

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest general hospital foundation trusts in the country.

We provide acute medical and surgical services to Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire and specialist services to a wider population across Berkshire and its borders.

Underneath this vision sit our strategic objectives and we have a five year plan which details how we aim to achieve these objectives.

Our strategic objectives

Our drive to deliver this vision will be carried forward through four strategic objectives:

  • exceed patient and customer expectations
  • work together to create a modern and sustainable healthcare system
  • deliver the best healthcare in the best possible place for patients
  • provide the best place to work, train and learn.

The principles against which we test ourselves are:

  • best patient experience
  • best health outcome
  • best value healthcare
  • best place to work, train and learn.

We have:

  • over 4,800 staff
  • 607 acute, 44 paediatrics and 57 maternity post natal beds
  • 204 day beds and spaces
  • an annual budget of £290 million, without PFI arrangements.

All in a day's work:
